Excersise
  • At the beginning of the lesson we did a warm up , by standing in a circle and doing various warm up excersises. This was helpful in focusing and feeling confortable within the group.

Voice
  • Today we experimented with Linkley techniques in order to use variety and explore different ways of changing our voices. First, we went through each individual voice technique and then we were able to move around in the space applying each voice technique to movements. We then explored doing this at different paces and with saying lines from our monolouge and moving around the space. We also did an excersise which involved either projecting our voice to a point across the room, making eye contact with someone and saying the line to them and also pretend to say our line to a tiny person.

Body

  • When were moving aroud the space exploring different voice technniques we were able to move our bodies very confortably as we became much more confident in doing extreme movments from our movement work over the last few weeks.
  • Also we did various excersises of sayin our lines for example, we had to say our line in a way an elephant would, and lie down and say our line.

Group

  • We also did some partner work which helped to practise the dialouge for our monolougues. We read the monolouge out to one another and when my partner could identify a word i said that was emotional, applied to the senses or desribed somehthing, they would repeat it to show us to apply more emphasis. We then practsed applying some laban and linkley to the piece and applied movement to the dialouge. Overall, we worked really well but we ran out of time to fully go through each text.

Voice

During class today we worked further on emphasising human movement with sound, by making sounds with our voices when performing a movement it was helpful to fully take on the movement and believe the action was real. For example, in our group performance , for the lesson, one of the movments was to throw to hands in the hair strong, quick , whilst delivering the sound of "yah!", also strong and quick.

Body
Today I felt that the way i used my body to deliver movements was much more confortable than the week before and this made the movments much more clearer in meaning. Furthermore, our body movements were also more complicated and had much more variation that last week, showing that i have significantly developed since last week.

Group Work
This weeks group task was to perfom a 1-2 minute piece to the group which included various laban and other characteritics such as; relationships, humor, repetition, use of space, volume, tempo, engaging with the senses. We were able to work to a very high standard and delievered a strong piece of work to the class. Overall, we worked well

Warm up game
  • At the start of the lesson, I observed the "freeze" game. This game involved the group linking hands in a circle, one person lets go from the circle and runs anti-clockwise around the group while the other tries to catch the person, before they reach the circle again.

Theory

  • Today we learnt the main elements of Laban theatre. - Light and strong (weight), direct and indirect (space), quick and sustained (time).

Voice

  • Today i was able to use my voice to emphasise my body movements, when changing them from weight to time, to space. For example, say name and throw a strong, direct, quick- punch.

Body

  • I was able to use my body differently to show the transformation between different weight, space and time human movement. We walked around the space using different combinations of movements. For example, I was able to move from a strong, direct, sustained movment to a, strong, indirect and quick movement.

Group

  • In our groups we each came up with two individuals movements, using these laban combinations. We then showed and taught these movments to the group in order to prepare to present to the class. We also decided on the sequence and arrangement of these movements in order to show different levels and contrast in movement. Our group worked well exchanging ideas and practising our sequence of movements thoroughly before presenting to the class.

Voice

  • Used one word to summarize each scene, (photo re-enactment) in group work. Voice was powerful and projected to capture audience emotion.

Body

  • Used our bodies to control movement in the way we walk and interact when told to move randomly around a room. "Naturally, we will walk in a circle".

  • Used bodies to create an image similar to a photo given.

Group work

  • Worked in a group well, felt confortable, ideas were given and taken equally.

  • Physical contact to create image, began with weak imag, with suggested improvements from class became strong
